my second long overdue post

A little over a year and I'm back. Jake continues to play football and Freya to prance and twirl. Jake has outgrown his trainers. So what's new?
Well, my son and daughter are now 9 and 6 and are both tall and gorgeous. I am very proud of them. They're both doing very well at school. Jake is so enormous now and growing up so fast we're already starting to think about secondary schools for him. Yesterday I went to Fairfield High for a snoop. I tagged along with Jake's class on a trip there to do a DT project. We were only there for an hour so I couldn't get much of an impression of the place. The lunch break had just finished so the school didn't really look its best - rubbish and dropped food everywhere. But the building is impressive and there's lots of land and playing fields around it. The DT teacher seemed great ... But the kids looked so HUGE! Lots of teenage boys wearing baseball caps sauntering along. It's funny to think that Jake will one day be that big, please God. I can imagine him there. It's a big school with a mixed bag of pupils. I can really imagine Freya there too, in a big gaggle of giggling girlies. From what I hear it's everything we'd want from a secondary school ... so I'll have to go on a few more visits there I think.
I've taken on an allotment. I went up there today to meet my friend Georgia, whose allotment it is, only to find out she's moving to Cornwall. :-( Really sorry that she's going, she is such a nice person. And she has great kids and they match my kids in age ... what a bummer. Oh well, people come, people go. Who knows, Rich and I might "go" somewhere ... Australia?! You never know ...

going to sign out now ...

... and hopefully not lose this post too!

my first post

My friend Bernardita gave me the idea to write a blog. I've had a blog before, but somehow managed to lose it! Am only I capable of doing that? But after talking to B, I suddenly realised that this is the best way to document my children's lives - their growth, their antics. I've waited far too long to do this. Now I intend to do it properly!
Jakob had a football match today. They played another local school, Sefton Park. I can't remember what the result was, but no matter: he came home covered in mud and brandishing the man-of-the-match award. We were all very proud. Then Rich took him to Park Street to buy some trainers. This was a kind of coming-of-age trip: he is eight at the end of the month and we thought it was time to buy him some proper branded trainers that will make him feel and look grown-up and cool. Going with his dad to buy them made the trip more special. So now he has some posh footwear, finally.
Meanwhile Freya went to her modern dance class where she pranced and twirled with her friends then we came home to wait for my friend Becca to arrive. Becca and I have known each other since we were eighteen, but haven't seen each other for nearly twenty years. And then suddenly, there she was, smiling on my doorstep. Apart from shorter hair she hasn't changed at all! And she brought her beautiful little boy, Fig, with her.
After that Freya had a party and Berni came back to my house for a coffee while the party was on - her daugher Lia was at the party, too.
And now, here we are - it's bedtime for F and J and for no reason at all I am knackered. All I've done all day is eat and talk!
Right, I want to post now and see what this blog looks like. Excited!
